Springs arrived today and im well happy! loads of arch in them, make the Sj springs look pathettic.

Picture below shows a Sj front next to a CJ front

Split the spring apart and spent a good half hour or so with the wire wheel cleaning one up

Gave the new chassis a good pressure wash then rolled it into the workshop. Its fully stripped now, just need to get the spring mounts all sorted then send it for powder coating.

going to mock all the brackets up in plywood before any steel is cut, just to make sure everything ends up sitting in the right place and the springs can cycle properly.

Bloody hell they have a lot of leaves! I would imagine it might be best to lose a leaf or 2 from each pack for the best flex? how soft are they compared to the SJ springs?

Yeah was my thought too! Theyre fairly soft ,and seem much smoother to compress them than the samurai leaves( less judderey ?)
I will probaly just use the 4 top leaves of each pack see how that rides. Tempted to uhmwpe them too?

i made the springs on my suzuki sam, what id do if i was you, count how many leaves are in you standard sj springs, then make your cj ones the same, i used ww2 willys army anus ones on mine, but as they have more longer leaves they work well, same as the oen you have but, mine are standard length.

cheers mike, think im going to run 4 leafs in the front and 5 in the back, these leafs are thinner than Sj ones and are a lot softer when compared this is probably also due to the added length. I spent yesterday working out how best to mount the front leafs and angles of the missing links etc.
I reckon the new setup will only give a inch or so more lift than it currently has.
Spent today with the wire wheel removing any surface rust and flaking sealent off the chassis. Got most of it primed in red oxide.

Not had chance to do much on the anus or the chassis, been working to hard! but had the chance yesterday to go green laning went up to strata florida with a mate in his beast of a Hilux, was awesome heres a few pictures









The little SJ did me proud! only casuality was one rear light lens!

amazing anus you have there! Mind me asking how much the wheel's/tyres set you back? I want some!

Is your rear light lense in 3 bits?
(btw if you hadnt worked it out yours looks like a spainish model. may help one day)
