Bit more work done, got the rear shocks fitted and started mocking up the exhaust.

Exhaust finished and I have temporarily mounted the fuel tank in the rear bed. I didn't really want to do that but there is not enough space for it to go underneath without chopping and changing the filler and I'd rather not do that so I'm just going to save up for a nice racing fuel tank that will fit back underneath the bed. This will get it on the road though.

Got my tank mounts and the shock cross member gussets finished over the weekend, then started the long slow task of cleaning up all the surface rust ready to start painting, I really hate that job, must remember to slap a coat of primer on straight after I've finished fabricating stuff in future.

Much better I think! I also cut the rest of the old tank mount off after taking this pic, no point having unused brackets left on the chassis.

Cheers matey :doublethumbs: Having a workshop is the most important bit! the skills you pick up on the way! I've pretty much taught myself everything along the way in the 5 or so years I've owned this SJ.

It's in the process Dan  but I had a bit of an accident and kicked the paint pot over so need to buy another 2.5l :bawling:

Rear and interior have had their first coat and the rear of the chassis is all painted again, also started cleaning surface rust off and primering the front arches :smokin: oh and I forgot to say I also put an extra support in for the rear bed over the weekend.
