I'm in southern ireland for the weekend so won't have internet while i'm there. I'll miss the build updates but i'm sure you'll have the finished shots uploaded when i get back and check again.

Won't you?

Im on call for the next week.

Currently parked in a foot of flood water and sewage cocktail waiting for Southern electric to restore a supply to a pump station. :D

Presume their transformer is just as drowned so might be here a while!

might extend my wheelbase a bit when I fit the YJ's to something like this one.

Would trim the front end to continue out a bit more horizontally rather than come back down in front of the tyre.

What are peoples thoughts/experience on this?

Yjs will stretch the wheelbase a bit anyway, mines got a little stretch in the front and I can still move my rear axle back another 25mm.

You can only really stretch the front upto about 50mm anyway before you need to start customising the steering set up, if you want to go further than 50mm you'll need to swap to a steering box with a forward facing pitman arm and this won't be a direct bolt on and you might need to make a custom drag link as well.

Thought the steering might be the downfall.

Seems like a good way of getting back some approcah angle with the longer springs though.

Will have to look at it when I/we start making the kit and see whats possible.

Need the front 8" of chassis rail off one side of a sammy so I can start designing front mounts in the warm and make stuff at work.

The only real way of getting your approach angles back with YJs is big tyres  there's only so far you can really go offset from the spring centre pin by redrilling the perches and plates etc.

Problem is doing it with just the front section of a chassis is there is no way to really make sure you get your caster angle correct, I'll give you some measurements to use though after I've reworked mine to work with standard angle perches ;)

Just meant to start looking at mounting methods rather than finalise anything.

That pic I posted has its rear brackets on the front springs a lot further forward than yours.

The front of that is shackle reverse so he's extended the chassis quite a bit, it looks like the centre pin is offset? I wonder if its got Toyota springs on the front?

Yjs all round

3 days of callout and my brain is fried and im thinking like a prick.

Moving the spring does naff all as the front of it ends up further forward too. Im a knob head.

Best bet is move as far as perch will allow and big tyres like u said.

Love the look tho!
