Did a only little bit to the Kwak as Anton popped over for a butchers at the pig sty (sic) lol!

Very nice chap indeed...even if he did ask for 9 sugars in his coffee!!

And I found this article in the Aircooled club magazine. TZ wheels are a fraction lighter than the alloy RD ones...not really worth the bother...

The overall mass might be similar, but the position of the weight will make a difference when turning. I'd think the rim on an alloy wheel will be much heavier than a spoked wheel, and this will then act like a fly wheel, and not want to chance direction quickly.
If you notice on the spoked wheels, all the mass is towards the centre, this will make the wheel "feel" lighter when riding, even if it actually weighs very similar.

Thanks for having me over! Jenny fancies coming laning with us, so perhaps you'll meet my gal the next time I'm over. ;)

They are talking about production racing, TZ wheels weren't allowed. They are comparing steel rimmed RD wires with the 7-spoke RD alloys which were both available as stock.

I've found an engine for the race bike...or rather 2 engines. Either a 400 or 250 lump. I'm going for the 250 for many reasons. One it's standard and has done 2600 miles. Two it has a set of Allspeeds as well. Three it'll bolt straight in and is ready to go carbs and all, and four...if I enter the 251-500cc class I might as well use a pushbike. I'd be up against all sorts of trick 500cc machine and I'd end up last every time, at least on a 250 I'll be racing similar machinery.

So the Microns will go on Elsie. I now have the forks and a mudguard...

And the new tyre on the Kawasaki is putting up a fight! (winning too...)
