If you have a look in the service manual it will tell you the resistance of it at certain temperatures
You will need a multi meter and thermometer

So garage not really sure, got a new radiator cap and still no joy, going for a sniffer test on Friday. Any ideas on cost if it is the head gasget ????

Have had it all flushed through and a lower temp thermostat put in, all going ok, had the sniffer test done and there is a minute amount of signs of the head having a crack so gonna chuck in some steel seal and just keep my fingers crossed. Not losing loads of water anymore so happy with that !!
