From the battery there should be 4 wires

2 from the negative.
1 small black wire to the body
1 large black wire to one of the MOUNTING bolts of the starter.

2 from the positive.
1 small one that will have a fusible link that goes to a white and yellow wire
1 large wire that goes to the positive terminal on the starter motor.

okay well im not gona touch it. The thing runs so it works fine without that wire

I would add to that, there also needs to be a large earth strap from the engine to the body, or the throttle cable or similar will be used as a circuit, and melt. As had happened to my Sammi when I originally bought it.

Ooops, re read Scotties post, and there is an earth to the body. Doh!
