Just bought this SJ would like some info on how to lift it?

I've got 31s on tired springs. Bulk head had to be chopped to prevent fouling and wheel spacers to stop fouling on chassis on full lock.
Even with lift springs you can only fit tyres to a certain size before they foul the bulkhead or chassis. Im sure scotties / ferris' yj conversion move the axle forward to ease this problem on 33s but they both have done virtual lift too to prevent fouling.

i hear that you can drill a hole 1" further foreward on the axle purches and that will locate the axle an inch further foreward, again im not sure about it if its safe but im sure someone else know a bit more about doing it...

You drill the hole 1"back on the perch and do the same on the Ubolt plate. Moves the axle 1" forward to help with bulkhead clearance for larger tyres . It's perfectly safe! both my axles are offset 25mm from the spring centre pin using this method to increase the wheel base slightly.

Yeah the size of the yj spring moves the axle forward anyway.
Yes the spring perches can be drilled to move the axle a bit to help with some lifts.

If you do spring over axle you have to get it right, my friends was done badly and it never drove right afterwards, he's just had to have the axles off and cut off/re-weld the perches.
I've done SPOA with parabolic springs off an SJ410 on the front and standard leafs on the rear, drives well. I've also just done a 2inch body lift, this is about as far as you can go without much modification, however you will need longer brake lines, I've got vitara lines on mine, oh and prop spacers.

Oh and shocks, you'll need to change the shock locations and get longer shocks as they will always bottom out, mine are now on the back of the axle with rough country shocks, rears I've just turned the mounts round but will be moving these too to allow for more shock travel.

Just a little note about Prop spacers, they increase the UJ angle. A lifted SJ with out Prop spacers will have steeper UJ angles, and adding prop spacers increases this and the chance of the UJ's binding.
Prop spacers are a cheap fix for extending the propshaft, but can do more harm than good in some cases.

you can get castor correction plates that help with your prop angle i believe, they are like a wedge shape that goes between yout axle purch and spring...
and by what ive read about add a leafs is they only restore your tired spring to lift your car to its original height, it would be just like fitting new standard springs to your sj, which i have done and would rather fit new springs than use add a leaf's, as scottie told me if you fit add a leafs to tired old springs the end of the old leafs bend backwards and eventually snap, they seem very dangerous to me...
