Cherry bombs make them loud and cool ;)

I've got one on mine, a backbox one with a chrome tip.

Passes MOT as far as emissions are concerned... some MOT testers fail on the volume of it though!!!
Mines a 2.5" tip cherry bomb, standard sammy middle box, standard manifold, 1.6 8v engine

Putting a 16v engine in soon so I will let you know how much louder it is, if at all

As said, if its running right you shouldnt have a problem, and with regards to a cat, fitting one to a carb'd engine is pointless, as it would simply destroy the cat, all the un bernt fuel on over run and back fire would just wreck it. Better off selling the cat for scrap, and using that money to get an SU :hands:

I will let you know in a week or so how mine fairs with the 1.6 and a standard carb, might take the air filter out first just to be sure

Best bet is to either use a colourtune kit, or an exhaust gas analyser :)

I've got an old fashioned one like this:

Ive had some good success with the colourtune kits. Good thing with them is you can check each cylinder individually and really see whats happening accross the engine. And best of all they are cheap and cheerfull!! Always a bonus in my book!!
