I think that could be one of my issues to be honest, a good seal on the intake carb gasket, i think that there is s small fuel leak at the bottom of the gasket. What can i use to seal this? I jhave heard that vasiline can be used?

the su carb should bolt to the adapter (right angled tube) there will be a gasket here or maybe in your case "there should be a gasket here"
and where the adapter bolts onto the inlet manifold there will be a gasket.

get a compression tester from a local motorspares shop shouldnt be much £10-£20

well worth it as you can use it over and over again.

cheers

I have 2 gaskets there as 1 was leaking 2 is much better, i think i need grease or vaseline or something to help with the seal.

I will look into buying a compression kit, are they generic or are they car specific?

ok cool. yeah you could try that or you can make a thicker gasket. i used the backing card from a sketch book for my rear diff and its worked a treat! it was about 3mm card. you could try 2mm or 3mm.

its very easy.. take a look at the video below!

I always use a very light smear of hylomar blue or another non silicone based gasket sealant (read the pack and make sure it is suitable for contact with fuel) but only use a very small amount so that when everything is tightened up it doesn't come out the sides. I used old cereal box to make my last one
