Smells oily and the smoke floats around in the garage. Fuel or water I think would dissapear pretty quick?
The oil I put in was I think semi synthetic as the online fact sheet said it has cleaning agents in it. Today I'll get some new seals and will spend a day on wed trying to put them in lol

Update...I read on here about the pcv valve being a problem so after going through some troubleshooting with twiss I found the pcv valve was shot and capped it off. This seemed to help a bit. So this morning I set the tappets and put a new rocker gasket in. New pcv valve and pipework as well. Went to a local tuner for a timing and mixture tune and all the way there and back had no smoke. So fingers crossed in the morning I have little to no smoke and job is done!!

Did you change the valve seals, was it an easy job?

No he didn't in the end... once the PCV valve was blocked off it stopped sucking oil into it
Working nicely now

I went as far as slackening off the tappets before checking the pcv valve. I think to change the seals would be fiddly but could be done with head and cams still in place.

Ok, how can you tell the PCV valve is faulty, I have removed mine and cleaned it and it rattles, I did get valve stem seals but not got around to doing them yet, I just start the SJ sj and wait 5 mins for smoke to clear before I go on road with it.

u should only be able to blow through the pcv valve 1 way. If u can blow both ways then its buggered.
Before u attack the valves just block off the valve and clean the pipe that goes from the rocker cover to the air filter housing and go a few days like that. If it helps the smoke then the pcv is at fault. U could just leave it blocked really. If this helps a lot prob there will be a small puddle of oil in the air filter housing so clean that up as well. I had oil in all the breather pipes and filter housing.

I would be wary of blocking the PCV valve, you must have some crankcase ventilation or you will get excessive pressure in the block which will cause smoking and may blow oil seals and gaskets.

Exactly.. Hence why........

U still have a perfectly good filtered, weatherproof breather

Right chaps, I removed the pvc valve, it rattles so it's not clogged up but I blew upwards out of if and there is a very small air leak would this be the problem? It lbows thru the other way very easily tho
