Yeah that rear panel behind the bumper is long gone on mine.

Can't really see the filler area that well in the photo. Looks like it's borderline saveable but probably worth just doing it while you are at it.

I'll cut the panel off then, I haven't progressed much,

New pads, cylinders, springs and bearing,

I'm waiting on some more copper brake line to replace the line on my axle, and some stainless nuts and bolts to use on the petrol tank/guard,

These also arrived from the USA - 2 months after I ordered them, the first ones must have got lost in the USA postal system as they didn't have 'Great Britain' in the address

I got an hour or so on it today,

So I refitted the half shaft, I'd already assembled all the new brake components on the repainted backplate and bearing retainer,



No pictures but I fitted a new copperbrake line as I had to cut my old one to remove the old cylinder, it was my first time making up brake lines and flaring ends. My first attempts were wank, I tried one of these cheap flaring kits, the type with the clamp and the c section with mandrel - well that was a fail, the copper pipe kept slipping out of the clamp. I think my biggest issue was although the kit was advertised as for brake lines, it clearly wasn't. The smallest sizing was 5mm whereas we all know brake line is 3/8" or 4.7odd mm. To try and improve my set I took some metal off the clamp, but in fairness the kit was still poor and my flares were terrible. So I bought another kit, a powerhand type kit, it's great and I'm getting consistently good flares!

Any way, I fitted the new brake pipe and bled it and all seems well, now, so I took the opportunity to cut some more rot out in the drivers side rear wheel arch,



No problem, I then wanted to chop that corner off below the bumper, but I couldn't get in with the bumper in place. Removing that was a PITA, I replaced the bumper back when I bought the truck. In the process a I fitted number of New bolts, but unfortunately out of the x6 holding it on x3 required drilling out, X1 came out ok and the last x2 I couldn't get to! I imagine they will both require the drill treatment when I move the truck to get to the other side,

Any way, chop chop, the piece is gone

very nice SJ. Just seen your wrap round bars on page 8 - they look great in black, I have some knocking around but they are white and ugly. I think I'll splash a bit of black on... there's a twat near me drives his Range Rover (black, what else) down the middle of our road. I have an idea

You will cry the first time you smash that off a rock though. Lol.

Haha, it's not meant to be mint just solid & tidy. Yeah, with the tank Guard I'm pretty sure it will get bashed, that's why I opted for the galvanising under the powdercoating, even if the paint comes off it should still be rust proofed to a degree! Even if the finish isn't as good as normal powdercoating - which shouldn't matter as no one sees it,

I had a few more hours on my zook today so I carried on with the drivers rear wheel arch,





Done, next job, remove rear bumper and tow bar, tow bar needs painting again and I want to weld some brackets on to it for mud flaps, I have some Vespa style chequered ones (ones from the bike I had my accident on) that I want to fit

Keep it up. Be done in no time bud.

Then towbar and bumper are off for painting,
