Looks like a real nice job. Presume pitch is some sort of oil based substance? Only pitch i know is the sort of stuff used on felt roofs.

Yeah it's a bit dirty! this box was the worst it had the consistency of treacle (but a bit thicker). The heat lamp turns it liquid and it runs out. Yeah it is the same sort of stuff they put on roofs, they also used it to insulate electrical connections in old equipment. The transformer is old and has had a gasket fail. The transformer oil has got into the terminal boxes, the pitch has contaminated the oil which degrades it. The plan is to replace the gasket, Change the transformer oil And reseal the terminal boxes. It's all good fun if a bit dirty!

Saw a pic the other day, could have been you, of a waggon with a blade on a bridge. Loads of people claiming it was photo shopped
