Spent a really long time making up the rear door card.

Wanted to fit some rather beefy (300w) infinity 6x9's but really didn't want to space the whole door card off as I don't like the way it looks.

I needed to find 30mm for them to fit and had a few different ideas/methods but settled on this version.

I tried with a bit of scrap ally first and it seemed like I could make a ring that fitted into the moulding of the speaker surround (bet this wouldn't work on most speakers so I got lucky) so I decided to make some up.

Fitted into the surround and riveted at the bottom out of sight.

I then cut out the smallest hole I could get away with in the ally to keep it strong.

Then copied that in wood to have on the back so the speaker just screws to wood for ease of fitting and also strengthening.

Image

Drilled all the holes to screw the wood onto the back and gave it the brushed effect and screwed it all up

Then screwed the speakers in. I'm really really pleased with how they turned out!

The spacers were cut with the grinder then filed/sanded to be flat!

Had to give it a try. Just shut in the rear door for now. Need to refit the spare wheel carrier before fitting it as some of the captive nuts are missing.

Before I fit them for good can anyone tell me whether I need to cut out for access to the tailgate lock handle by law?

Most of a day for some speakers and a door card but I love them!

Thanks

I know they like the front doors to work from inside and out. Thought I better check before fitting the panel.

My tailgate is quite badly bent from some pitch black greenlane reversing

Dunno if I can bring myself to fit it to that one now its turned out so nice so I'm in the market for a straight rust free tailgate!

Was drunk and spotted a Jimny power steering box on e-bay for £85.

As I did some overtime this week I thought I would treat myself.

Its from a low mileage 2007 so should be in good condition.

Sourced a vitara pump locally for £20 and hopefully he has the pipes and reservoir.

Just picked up the two 410 tboxes that appeared on ebay last night aswell.

Got there and he had 2 nearly new props aswell so I had the lot fot £160

Then decided to drive to another fella to get a cat back stainless exhaust for my Mrs MK3 golf for £100

Total ebay spend for the last 12 hours = £370. Think I need to chill out!

Picked up vitara PS pump, reservoir and, hoses on the way home from work.

Fella was a bit sheepish as he had got confused about different ebay messages and had accidentally told me I could have the lot for £20. I did feel a bit sorry for him when he said he had wanted £60 so I chucked him an extra fiver and got outta there!

Aint had a chance to look at it yet as I had to have a 3 hour fight with the golf exhaust instead. Whoever removed it must have had a ramp so I had a right battle to get it under and up over the rear beam!
