G16 into sj410 info
Re: G16 into sj410 info
My '85 Jap 410 already has a 1.3 5spd in it, so not totally original anyway. So I got to thinking maybe a Vit 1.6. First thing is there are 8v and 16v Vit engines around and also maybe carb and F/I variants. I'm actually quite happy with a well-sorted carb set-up (got SU on at moment) but what is recommended and pros n cons please.

Re: G16 into sj410 info
8v with carb is definitely the easiest, pretty much bolt in and go (with adapter plate and skinny starter motor)
SU should work fine on it with some re-tuning, will probably need a new needle and springs. Easy to get from sucarb.co.uk ... about £20 for both I think
The injection is obviously going to be better, but if you are going to the trouble of wiring it up, 100% go for the 16v instead of the 8v.
The 8v injection is through a throttle body... not much better than carb
The 16v injection is multi point.

16v mpfi......Out performs all the others, yes it involves a lot more wiring but it's worth it.
Re: G16 into sj410 info
Thanks Twiss and Scottie - excellent info. I'll go read up on the wiring of a 16v next... but I might like the simplicity of an 8v/carb set-up.

There's not really anything complicated about the 16v mpfi, it's early injection so there not even a huge amount of sensors and it's very reliable.
Re: G16 into sj410 info
Ok, i'm going to start looking for a decent 16v I think - may try a wanted here. Thanks again.

Sorry to start up an old thread but I’d like more info on this as I’ve got a bog standard 410

Yes. This very thread. Check the very first post, Scottie talks all about engine mounts for 410 to 1.6 conversion.
