28-30psi is far too much for a light SJ. You'll get uneven tyre wear.

I've got a 12v twin cylinder compressor in mine for tyres. I'm really impressed with the speed it blows tyres up. It was about £60 on eBay. I can try to do.d. link when I get home.
They are no good for air tools though as the can't deliver the flow needed.

Cheers ladaman, that would be great. Its mainly for the tyres, the air guns were more a hopefully possibilty!

I'll have to let some air out of mine then...
30psi too much? My old mk1 Yaris was about the same weight, and the manufacturer guidelines said 35psi front, 30 rear. My mk2 is the same (although it's a heavier car).
My SJ is nothing like my Yaris though!

I suspected as much. Can you install a tank to give you the flow? I know it'll be good only for short bursts, but that's how most of us use our tools anyway, isn't it?

Maybe you could connect the compressor to an air tank, charge the tank up and use air tools for 'a bit' on the air stored in the tank. You'll have to stop sometimes to let the pressure get back up, but it's an option.

I run at 32
Have done for nearly 30k no uneven wear

The trepadors on karis's old SJ started wearing in the middle more than the sides when up at 28 after just a month.
Will also depend on the tyres as well, it's usually a lot more noticeable on chunky MTs

I pulled a tyre off the bead and it just managed to seal back up at 2 psi. Continued off raiding and drove to a garage to top up no problem

ive got the ckma12 arb compressor and its good little comp and you can pump up my tyres with it 35,12.50 15 but it takes awhile and you have to let it cool down every now and then but im thinking to eventually put a big tank on it have a look at the VAIR compressor
