Yeah I only suggested it cos of the part availability...
never hear any problems with 410 carbs really.
For a 413/Samurai though SU is a no brainer

A HIF38 does not need an adapter, it is pretty much bolt on apart from a few small tweaks, I.e port matching the inlet manifold and ovalising two bolt holes slightly.

I wouldn't bother with the adapter that reduces the bore size down to match the manifold, just open up the manifold to suit the carb or fit a 1 1/4" SU instead, the 1.5" is better for power though. I had a Janspeed conversion on mine that used the earlier non-HIF carb so thats a possibility too if you can find a good one, there are a lot of worn out SUs out there.
