It shouldn't start without that wire it's the ignition feed, so fit a fuse in and rewire it.
Chances are your carb is now full of crap as you have run it with no filter (not clever!!!!) so strip the carb and clean it, there is a guide in the DIY section.
also please give your engine a bit of respect, there's really no need to rev it loads with your foot to the floor, all you will do is more harm than good.
if you can get it started then let it warm up, put it in low ratio, don't rev it loads and be really steady with the clutch, slip it if you have to and you'll be able to drive it out of the field.
