So is there any easy way to get it to slip back together?

I checked the pipes again this morning and all looked right and i wanted to use the old engine and replace the piston so had to take the whole lot out and get the piston out and then rebuild and put everything on and in 3 1/2 hours!!

In this pic there seems to be an awful lot of water on top of the inlet manifold.

did you use a new inlet manifold gasket? there are water channels in the inlet manifold so if that doesn't seal properly or there are any cracks between the water channels and inlets it could let water through into the cylinders etc.

Yeah new gasket on there thats just where we were flushing the rad etc
