Re: Am i Mad??? I want to put a samurai dash into my KJA
the only other thing is I was thinking about looking into modding the heater system to make those vents blow hot air as well as cold.
Dunno whether anyone has looked into that?
Im the same as you. Don't want ridiculously loud stereo just loud enough to hear it over the rattilng, exhaust, tyres, and flapping roof.
Ive got some ok speakers in the standard footwell holes and im gunna use ally sheets for both door cards ans the tailgate card.
my mate gave my some decent 6x9's so I was gunna stick them in the tailgate and run the whole lot on a small amp just so they kick out some decent sound.
Dunno where to hide the amp out of harms way though. Was thinking about putting it in a plastic box and filling it with joint resin from work but am a bit wary of heat dissipation.
gunna replace my interior light with 60cm's of this aswell. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30cm-15-SMD-L ... 4cf6cb2627" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My mate has done it in his and its awesome. Much brighter than the standard light and such a small amount of power consumption you can leave it on for hours in the event of a breakdown.
Might use it to illuminate switch panel as well.
Getting all excited about interior mods now!

That strip looks pretty cool i must admit,
My system is not to bad as i have a small cab with solid sides, but i remember trying to get good sound in the softops, not easy
I might look into a roof console, could put some switches up there, and one of those lights too
Heater wise, it is just a case of ducting from the hot holes, I was thinking about using a small heater unit from a polo or a mini (proper not bmw) or something, give me some behind dash space, and should have a number of outlets too
sooo many ideas, so little time, and even less space

lol typical fat american, living up the their stereotype of idiocy.
You know, there are actually intelligent yanks out there that do things properly, shame there's less of them than the other kind

Re: Am i Mad??? I want to put a samurai dash into my KJA
I had another brainwave idea the other day regards to dashboard space
Remove the heater completly, as it is quite a large unit after all.
"but wait", i hear you say "what about demisting the screen and heat in the car?"
well the heat in the car is not much of a problem, its a small cockpit and only needs a small amount of heat as for demisting the screen, i did think about going down the heated windscreen route, but that is never going to happen, then i stumbled across a post on turbosport, someone was going to use 1 or 2 of these
It is an electric fan with a heat element in the end, off of an E36 Convertable and designed to demist the rear side windows i believe. now this one is a bit pricey, however get teh right scrappers and the right day, and they could be pretty cheap, also means instant heat on those cold mornings
