It depends. Eco-driving, about 30mpg; if you'e a lead-foot like me, it can get as low as 25mpg in my truck, which is a completely standard 970cc 4-speed.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

I found that even with 31s and the little 970cc I could redline it everywhere and still never get under 25mpg :D

I should point out that I am running an SU carb, so no choke problems!

... and I've got free wheeling hubs, which help quite a bit.
I think the effect is more noticeable with larger tyres

I think my carb's buggered though, like, rich at low revs and lean at high revs.

Put an Su on then, its easier to do on a 410 because you don't need an adaptor!

I had a standard 410 on 195 road tyres, no mods and running well. This did 28mpg driven carefully and 26mpg driven hard. There was more difference in mpg between cheap and nasty petrol and the decent stuff. If I filled at Safeway it was 25mpg at best
The fuel tank had sprung a leak so temporarily I fitted a 2 gall tank. My house is 13 miles from work, the petrol station I use is 3/4 mile up the road, to avoid filling up every day I drove carefully (for me anyway)

When I had a LWB back in 1986 it did about 22-24mpg from new, this included a lot of thrashing around the farm. Compared to the other 4wds on the farm this was regarded as good and we tended to use SJs for personnel transport.

I dread to think what my MPG is, and i have no way of telling as my speedo has packed up. All that i know is that it goes flat out, everywhere and gets fuel when it needs it

last tank (from brim to brim, same pump same station) worked out at 24mpg

235/75's and a carbed 1.6 vitara engine, with standard box's FWH's

I also like to accelerate quickly, and can often be seen trying to accelerate at 90 on the dual carrigeway on my way home (yes it does 90)

it has dropped now it is cold, was getting closer to 25 in the summer :hands:
