all sjs should do 70 if they are set up well and have a good engine. they were designed to be able to do motorway speeds! my old 970cc lump with 31s would even get there eventually

eventually gets there does help when there little wind, but when it does man dont like it doesnt feel right maybe with a hard top wouldnt be so noisey, happy for now just plodding about at 55. does need fuel and carbon filter changed got to get onto suzuki for these got part number from pma

As for the 70mph thing, previous owner said mine would with a 970cc and a 4 speed, though I've not had chance to try it yet.

looked on ebay found these wheels with toyo tranpath 31/50 r15 are these for a highly modded zooki or will these fit straight on

Welcome to the club. Very tidy looking sj you have there
I dont think you will get those 31s on a standard sj. You will probably need a minimum of 2" lift and some wheel spacers, and even then you may need to do some minor adjustments to the inner arches with a hammer.
They do look like a good set of tyres tho.

86 SJ413 tin top, 1.6 8v, SU carb, YJ spring conversion, virtual lift, 33x12.5x15 KL71's, rocklobster, rear discs, power steering.

really pleased with the fact its costing time and materials to weld up. quite a bargain really picked up for five hundred spent two on service bits and bobs just considering another engine something more fuel friendly what with prices.. cheers for the heads up on the tyres did look a little extreme
