Progress report.
Things are going steadily and it's such a pleasant feeling as reconditioned parts are fitted back onto the chassis and engine. Plus, it's nice not to be tripping over boxes which contained all those parts!
I fully stripped and refurbished both front brake calipers, which was helped by using a homemade sand blasting cabinet (youtube is really useful for ideas). Refitting the new brake pistons was tricky at first as they appeared too big (51mm dia) to fit into the caliper body? Much pondering led me to realise that there was a crusty build up of rust around where the old dust seals had been. Careful use of a brass wire wheel soon had the issue resolved.
I'm also thankful for the decent warm weather which certainly helps with spending time with the SJ.

I tried to find an original inclinometer but they are rare as hen's teeth!
So, it's time to get creative..

Now that’s cool might have to steal that idea handy to have GPS speed as well.

I got really lucky with the whole job, especially with cutting the donor air vent.

Using a dremel fitted with a mini cutting disc, I followed a handy moulding line which is just at the right place as a guide for the dremel.
It's critical to the Autool X95 display that the bezel sits level across the face of the X95 and at the same time doesn't cover up too much of the display face.

I'd bought a pack of 4 air vents off ebay ((Indian supplier) just in case things got messy), but as it turned out I got it right the first time, so this little project has probably used up my lucky allowance for this year!

I then used a trepanning tool, set to 62mm, to cut the hole.
The facia had an horrendous hole drilled through the centre, so trying to gauge the centre for the pilot hole proved 'interesting'

Then, with the dremel with the mini cutting disc, nibble out some of the plastic and foam create at the back of the facia.
This creates room for the X95 display to sit flat against the back of the bezel.

Strip down the X95.
I separated the display from the mother board (ribbon cable) to aid fitting the display.

Carefully apply superglue (try not to allow any glue to spill down the edges of the bezel or it will spoil the look of the clean surface) around the mating () surface, and try to align the X95 with the bezel on the first attempt!

Next, think calming thoughts as multiple attempts are required, reconnect the ribbon cable back into the mother board in a tricky, limited space without damage to anything!
I ended up using a pair of fine needle nosed pliers which are lockable to hold the ribbon cable very carefully.
Once correctly fitted you can breathe again.

I then ended up using the original back housing of the X95 as a protective cover.
A few blobs of silicone was used to secure the mother board inside of the housing.
Then carefully align the housing so that the control button sits back into its correct position.

Then I used a combination of silicone (and some structural paste I had going spare) to hold the housing in place. It looks like a dogs dinner, but it does the job and its hidden from view.

Let it all set for 24hrs, crossing all fingers during the waiting time.

Plug in, power up and go "Wow!"

Oh, almost forgot, fit the bezel first, I used contact adhesive, and allow it to set overnight.
Then fit the X95 from the rear.
