I may have to buy a re-pro front bumper but the SJ one that is on at the moment is defo going...you interested in that or the bull bar dude?

Didn’t realise it was a SJ bumper, thought it was some homemade steel thing that was all in one, would have chopped the bull bar off, so will say no
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

Didn’t mean to be rude about the wheels, just feel they don’t fit the car. Needs steels or a date appropriate alloy, just my opinion

Nice LJ

Leigh J Catherick, should be your go to guy for LJ parts seeing as his first 2 initials are LJ.
He's restored & modified more LJs that anyone else by far over the last 25 years. (He's done 3 of mine.)
Call him on 01227 720852 or 07759 457501

That's a stock LJ bull bar. I'd keep it as its a rare part right now.

Engine. I had a smokey 800cc engine that I had bored out to fit 410 pistons. It really moved.
It was a common mod in the old days. The machinist does hit a bolt in one of the cylinders but it wasn't an issue as it wasn't on the piston ring stroke. You use all the internals from the 410 bottom end. The 410 head will also bolt on. That way you keep the LJ engine number. Unfortunately you also get to keep the crappy LJ gearbox. Hateful thing.

PS: Welcome to the elite club !

Couldn't agree more Robbie. The wheels are wrong and the wheel spacers were shocking. They were easy to remove...must put a For Sale up for the spacers!!! Steel wheels to follow sometime soon...

Thanks for the info and contact. Interesting comment on engine. I have an option on building 800cc engine and box or rebuilding 1.0 engine and box for installation...

I'll hook up with Leigh...

cheers

Hey dude...thanks for your message - not much to up date on. The front bumper and bull bar are off and fitted a basic home grown bumper that looks ace.

Other than that we have been driving it and, as mad as it is, having a great laugh!!

I'd really like a full hood sometime and I need to get another exhaust but these items seem to be rare and (the hood) stupidly expensive...

Cheers
Paul

Post pics !!!!

Master Covers 02392 374739 seem to be an unknown entity for LJ hoods.
They do them in red. I've had 2 red & 1 white hood from them plus inevitable repairs. They've also retrimmed 2 pairs of canvas doors for me. Really nice jobs.

I have a mud stained low roof white hood of theirs that's getting replaced by a custom Red hood they just did for me.
If you're in no rush I could bring it back home to Solihull next year & I'd do a swap.
I'll post some pics of 2 wear spots & see if I can bleach the stains out. See what you think.

Interesting...I have a hood that that came with the LJ but is rather tired so maybe Master Covers can make it better.

It's certainly much easier to source stuff for SJs

So you from Solihull??

I was just there but as it was a rush, I totally forgot.
In the next couple of months I'll be there again & should have the red top on mine so no need for the white.
I'll keep you posted
