Very impressive. Is it going to get SVA'd?ScottieJ wrote:Sj chassisEdweird wrote:Is that a Vitara chassis or is the IFS fitted to an SJ chassis?
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Cheers for the comments! Not many photos so far but here's a couple.
The rough idea and spec we're going for:
KJA cab and bed
Original chassis, repaired and almost all cross-members replace with substantially bigger ones
Nissan CA18 engine and Box, with out-put shaft converted by Rockwatt to take Hilux prop.
S13 front subframe (easy solution to engine mounts)
S13 steering rack
Vit back axle with 4.3 Grand Vit diff, RS full float.
Rear suspension mounts lowered by around 3"
Front is double wishbone and coil-over, stolen from a Fourtrak.
Here's how the original rear mounts were altered.
Chopped.
6mm plate, then new mount. No pics of the rear shackle mounts, but they are just sunk into the chassis.
The front end needed to be independent due to..well everything. So to keep it simple, took a complete front end of a fourtrak, added it to side of the SJ. Bit redneck, but keeping it simple and matches the track of the Vit axle.
Stitched, bolted in the centre (sleeved)
Bit of tarty pic when we first squeezed the engine in, mounts were too high so it all went south. Luckily it all fits under the bonnet, no real tunnel work.
Matt

That's only totally awesome, that is. Now I really wanna see it finished!
1985 SJ413VX (SJ50V) with SPOA, rear disc brakes, 31x10.5R15 Kaiman Malatesta tyres, an MOT and a lot left to do!
