Actually when it comes to car mods it's far from the worst and a lot of things aren't actually enforced.

Look at Australia, Norway and Germany etc.

As far as I'm aware

In Australia you aren't allowed much without getting an engineer to sign it off and a "mod plate" fitted. Pretty much 40mm lift and 235/75 tyres are two limits that you have before they are needed.

In Germany all bolt on parts need to be TUV approved.

Tbh in some ways it's better. We might not have as many bodgesd vehicles on the road.

That would be a major pain in the arse for people like us, but it would also put a few idiots out of business who shouldn't be making car parts.

It's just like Australia here in New Zealand. My wagon has been deregistered, so before i can MOT it, and register it again, I have to go trough a re-vinning process at the cost of around $500, and they are super picky on any body repairs, chassis repairs, any aftermarket parts, and any mods or different parts used. if you do any mods, power steering included, you then have to go through a certification, again at a cost of around $500. if they are not happy with your repairs you have done, a repair certificate is needed, once again around the $500 dollar mark. after all this a MOT has to be done, and registration paid for a year, potentially costing you around $2k after all the messing about

thanks for replies and a good bit of info on the correct laws on wheel arches which is useful, luckily i managed to get them wheel arches for free, The Mrs added them to my christmas list bless her
so i'll be able to get them on and i'll report some information on them for all.

I have those arches on mine. I think I paid about £20 for 4, which I thought was actually a bit expensive!

Ended up just using them on the front. Got landy arches on the rear (yuk!)



That front tyre is on the right way around now, btw.

where they simple enough to fit? fit them onto existing arch mounts?

Tex bolts, shot them directly into the bodywork. They're basically screwed into the arches themselves.

Arches turned up and started to fit them today, got the front ones on fine and they just cover the width of the tyre, think i might have quite wide wheel spacers because the edge of the tyre is nearly 7inches from the body, i nylock bolted them to the original wheel arch mounts on the front.









BUT On the back arches the original mounting arch on both sides are not there, i think they have rotted away or a previous owner cut them off possibly, so have just got my bodge job on the back (land rover style arches bolted to side of body) at the moment.

I was wondering if anybody knew where i could find the arch mounts at all or if anybody has any for sale I would be interested in buying them, or offer any advice on the situation, i dont really want the arches bolted into the body or underside of the arch, much prefer a way to have same front and back
