But it's dented so what does it matter if it's rust freetwiss wrote:I would but my front end isn't at all rusty... it would look weird if I just did the back!

And how would a virtual lift change that?twiss wrote:no but they will survive being bashed into something, or by something, thats what really matters
If its solid theres no point cutting it upScottieJ wrote:And how would a virtual lift change that?twiss wrote:no but they will survive being bashed into something, or by something, thats what really matters![]()
Your argument is invalid
It is if you want more tyre clearance with less lift.....virtual lift is for tyre clearance just happens to be a easy way to get rid of the usual arch rust as well. As I said I could understand not wanting to do it if your wings were mint.........but they aren'ttwiss wrote:If its solid theres no point cutting it upScottieJ wrote:And how would a virtual lift change that?twiss wrote:no but they will survive being bashed into something, or by something, thats what really matters![]()

You badger me about it every time I bring it up but the amount of SJs Ive seen that have rotted the wing away from the arch, I'd rather keep mine the way it is!
If it was rotten, I'd cut it up
Chopping them up because they are dented isn't really worth it now is it
Tbh now I'm doing it again i'm not sure lifting the whole rear bed is the best way to do it.....unless you want to run a rear winch/raise the fuel tank. If I was to do it again on a swb I would either just raise half the floor or make some shock towers through the floor. however I have been tempted to modify my floor with slide out drawers for tools etc as it would be easy to do.keyring wrote:I must say I really am swaying towards the virtual lift, after reading the thread on it, I really like Scotties idea in the back with the raised bed and redesigned inner arches!
Need bigger tyers?twiss wrote:Yeah theres still not much point in me doing virtual lift... as the springs flatten and I hit the bump stops before the tyres rub on the arches anyway
