Re: Lobby Your MP - Don't Let Greenlaning Become Illegal
Good job Scottie. It's easy to be quiet and hope it goes away but it wont.
That's exactly what happened with NERC and look what happened, we lost 50% of our byways.
I urge people, read the bill! Or if you want I will do it for you and post a summary!
If we sit idly by we'll have nobody to blame but ourselves.
I'm currently writing a comprehensive letter to my MP, I'll upload it once I have done so. People can then use it as inspiration to write their own.
You can find the full documentation here.

Re: Lobby Your MP - Don't Let Greenlaning Become Illegal
I was on the GLASS website last night http://www.glass-uk.org/
And it seems a bit of a mess. I generally use Chrome to browse, but I also tried IE and Mozilla Firefox, and just about every page was coming up with errors.
For example the News page give the following error.
Warning: Parameter 3 to showCategory() expected to be a reference, value given in /home/glass/public_html/includes/Cache/Lite/Function.php on line 100
Is it just me, or does it do this for others? If it is like this for everyone, it really doesnt help the people (like myself) to put a decent letter with fact together, if the site does not work correctly.
I have tried the links to the webmaster and secretary also, and they don't work for me either, so I can't even let them know!

Any chance you could have a check of the news page Dan to see if you get the same error?

I will write to my MP tonight too. Some people think that their desires are more important than other people's rights!

Good to see this gaining some traction. Good work people, nice to see everyone's been sharing this thread all over facebook and other forums too.
I'm going to call the GLASS editor either today or tomorrow and offer to help fix their website for them if I can. As you say Ladaman, it doesn't help when their website doesn't work very well!

Re: Lobby Your MP - Don't Let Greenlaning Become Illegal
OK people,
I have written a letter which articulates why your MP should reject the proposed amendments to the Deregulation Bill and should instead support vehicular access on BOATs and UCRs.
Download it here: I have made it available as a .doc so that you can download it and edit it to personalise it before sending it off.
I've done all the work for you to make this as simple as possible, all you need to do is download this, scribble your name on the bottom and send it to your MP.
You can find who your MP is at https://www.writetothem.com/
Try and post a hard copy as a letter rather than an email. You do not have to pay for postage on letters to Members of Parliament. This means you don't have to buy any stamps, just put it straight in a postbox.
Here are some tips:
Address them properly: - e.g. Refer to them as John Smith MP or whatever their full title is.
Be coherent - As tempted as you may be to get angry over such an emotive subject, remain polite and carefully articulate your points.
Personalise it - If you can, incorporate local or personal examples to support your argument.
Keep a copy - This way you will have something to refer back to when you get a response from your MP.
Post your response - That way everyone will a) know who was awesome enough to take action and b) know which MPs are pro/anti vehicular rights of way.
If you need any help with any of this, message me and I will help you.

Re: Lobby Your MP - Don't Let Greenlaning Become Illegal
Excellent!
As I said earlier, adjusting something as good as this "template" is far more likely to get people to send their own letter to an MP.
I must admit I was a bit shocked as to the percentage of open access routes that are under threat, 0.5%. Why do the people who object to our hobby and past time understand it is such a small amount of area? Also many routes would soon return to nature if it wasn't for the fact vehicles keep the trees and bushes back to allow acces for all?
Very well done and thanks.
Now let us all get writing and posting.
