Any interest in seeeing my Willy(s)?
Well been a member here for years, and has been a great forum. Lots of useful threads and advice, has helped me build and maintain my Samurai. Still have my Samurai and thoroughly enjoy the off-Roading i do in it, but time has come for something new.........or old?
Have always had a thing about the old flat fender jeeps, love old cars and love 4x4's so kind of made sense.
Never thought id be able to afford an old anus, but managed to save a few pennies and get myself a rolling chassis complete with US title and all paper work required.
This anus is a 1946 meaning it was built after WW2 so isn't really desirable for the hardcore anus collectors. perfect for what i am wanting.
A month or two later a fairly rotten but original body tub presented itself, the owner was going to chop it up and weigh it in, i showed some interest and he said if i wanted it it was mine!
Plan is to build an old school off-roader/summer toy, chuck a few modern bits at it to get it driving a bit better and generally have some fun in the old girl, Not sure if this forums the right place for a Willy's build but let me know if you want to see more?

Ok great, build thread it is then!
As for buying a new body, that would be way too easy, plus where's the fun. The bodies on theses post war jeeps are almost completely different to the WW2 jeeps, and replacement panels are almost non existent here in the uk,
Decided to make all the panels myself, Originality wasn't the most important thing saving the old girl on my budget was.
Ive almost finished the major surgery, new front steps, lower side panels, new rear floors, rear corners, tailgate side panels, tailgate surround, floor riser, and rear panel.
Ended up making a timber frame to support the body and try and pull it back into shape, one of the rear corners had taken a big hit meaning the back of the tub was nearly 2 inches wider than it should have been. Still have the front floors and reinforcing hat channels left to do, but the end is in sight.
Side panel
Rear floors
timber frame and some new bits
