Don't do it unless you want your zook to handle like a top heavy boat!

Better to keep it spua with a small spring lift (not shackles) and to do other mods like raising the transfer box to gain a bit of clearance underneath.

Re: Anybody done the leaf spring over exle convertion?
I have done an SPOA conversion, and whilst it handles pretty well (not quite "a top heavy boat") it's not as stable as Scottiej's, Twiss's, Dan's and the other guys who stayed with the leaf pack under the axle and did a virtual lift instead.
If I was to rebuild my zuk, I'd go spring under again and virtual lift it instead (cut the arches to fit bigger tyres) like the guys mentioned above. Read their build threads for more info on how that's done. Not rocket science.
I don't think it's any more work to cut/weld the arches than to make and weld on new spring perches.

Re: Anybody done the leaf spring over exle convertion?
hi, thanks for the reply's. iv just brought the truck so i am new to this. the reason i want/wanted to was to lift the springs away from the floor as they are quite low. whats the best way to lift the transfer box? samurai 92. its fairly standard i think apart from its got 15" insa turbos, a roll cage, box section under the sills and its a tray back thats got checker plateon the top. ill get a pic up soon

If you want to lift the transfer case, read scottiej's build thread. It's not the simplest thing to do.
