Odd one here... Just nipped to the shops on the way home after a 30 min drive. Got me a pint of milk then back in the car I turned the key and the idiot lights came on then just as i turned the final click to start everything went dead. Even the horn and lights that do not require the ignition. I went online quick and realised it could be the fusable link. But this is a normal wire on mine, very thick and in one piece. So not that. Then I read there is an earth from the battery to the gearbox so for a laugh I rocked the car really hard... And full power was restored. Then it went again... Then after a little more rocking it came to life. I made it home with no issue at all over some bumps as well. What could it be? If something was loose it surely would of happened again on the way home.
Cheers

Re: mg410 total loss of electrical power
Possibly the fusible link. It's a bit of wire coming from the battery that is supposed to burn out if too much current is drawn, but it can go prematurely when it's old.
Another possibility is the earth wire from the battery to the bodyshell.

Re: mg410 total loss of electrical power
My fusable wire is a house earth cable done by previous owner. So not that. I'll check tomorrow in the daylight that connection to the body.. Anything else to check?

If you're getting no electrics at all, anywhere on the vehicle, it has got to be close to the battery. Cables, connections, terminals, etc.

Re: mg410 total loss of electrical power
Makes sense. I will trace all wires from the battery to where ever they terminate and see if any look damaged or loose.
