steering box

bit of a daft 1 but my steering box has a decent fluid leak....Is it time to replace or can it be repaired? :thumbup: cheers

If its a standard SJ box then I just pumped mine full of grease once the oil seal had gone. That never managed to leak out. :D

Sure there's probably a good reason why you shouldn't do that but it worked for me for a year or so. Then I swapped to power steering.

Interesting ^^

Mine is dripping out everywhere too. Smells like it's got 75/90 in it at the moment.
Gonna try the grease method. :lol:

Is there a oil seal in there or would it be wear n tear.......?might just give the grease method a go...cheers

Yeah there's a labyrinth seal on the output, unfortunately if you ever need to change your pitman arm you have to apply a decent amount of heat to get it to release off the taper on the output shaft and that heat usually damages the seal, as mentioned before just fill the box full of grease,
