Sj410-1.6 8v efi conversion

Post by Dougie13 » Thu Apr 17, 2014 6:22 pm

I am abs desperate to get my zuk back on the road, I have bought a 1.6 8v efi engine, 1.3 clutch gearbox flywheel adaptor plate etc etc have the 1.3 starter and 1.6 alt... I am a little stumped with the efi tho, I wasn't even aware that the 8v had efi thought it was only the 16v, I went with the 8v thinking it would be much easier to fit, basically I'm looking for advice in what is best, keep the efi or change to carb, I have no wiring knowledge ... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Cheers

hi there is some info about how to wire the injection 8v up but im not sure where it is...

what carb did you have on your 1.3? if it was an SU or a webber then it would be easiest to put the manifold and carb straight onto your 1.6 as it should fit
i dont think the standard carb from the 1.3 will work on the 1.6 though... probably not very well
if you did go carb you would need an electric fuel pump

Im sure someone will be along with the wiring info soon :)

It's actually a stock 410 I'm running , it's my every day car not just an off Roader , so in terms of fuel economy etc it the efi not better?

Ideally a step by step guide of what's needed to get the 8v running with efi is what I want provided it's not going to cost me hundreds more than converting to carb

Keep the EFI.

It might be a little bit of an issue to get working, but it will be worth it.

A great improvement over a carb, especially off road.

It won't work too well on the EFI head because there is no provision for it - it would have to be an aftermarket pump.

Have you got any idea what year the engine is from? have you got any of the EFI parts?

Yes... thus the electric fuel pump...
