Lying Fuel Gauge

Post by AntD » Fri Apr 11, 2014 6:49 pm

Hi all,

'87 410JL, fuel gauge is miles off - full tank displays about half, no idea where empty really is!

Am carrying a fuel can, but any ideas what could be the issue? And how to fix it! :er:

Possibly a corroded sender.

As a lot of people just "put a tenner in" the sender gets rusty / corroded and the top half of it doesn't work very well.

Sometimes removing it and cleaning it up can help.

bolted on top of the tank. look like a little round hatch with a wire attached to it, simply unscrew the screws and pop it out mate
It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out

My fuel gauge doesn't work correctly if I drive it about on normal roads it says about half a tank but if i stop and leave it running for 5 mins the fuel gauge will show just bellow 3/4 full
