Sheet steel folder ordered.

Post by Jordi » Sun Mar 30, 2014 4:51 pm

Finally decided to order a folder to attempt to make a fuel tank and some other bits and pieces.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000RO8 ... X110_SY165

Nothing too flash but according to the description it folds thicker and wider sheet than anything else I can find. The price is the only thing that puts doubt in my mind. Will a folder that cheap be any good?

The reviews on there seem to be ok, not that great though if it struggles with folding a 600mm wide,1.2mm sheet.

I would be half tempted to made your own, pretty sure I found an online guide on making your own folder a whole back, will try to find it for you.

I saw a guide on you tube, for £40 I'll give it a whirl.

Thats the one I have.

1.2 is a no go im afraid. 0.9/1mm is okay tho.

If you want nice sharp folds on 1.2 I usually scor the inside of the fold along
The fold line very very lightly.
With a pass of grinder with a 1mm disc.

Ive got a clake hammer and dolly set too. A planishin
Hammer gives a nice straight flat finish.

Below the floor panel is 1.2 inner cill is .9
