SJ410 -1985 'Cabrio', engine rebuild
Re: SJ410 -1985 'Cabrio', engine rebuild
May be a silly question. Will a 1.3 head fit? Somebody suggested fitting one.
I have no idea as never seen a 1300cc head in the flesh.

Okay. Well just picked up a 1.3 engine with both manifolds and carb for 50£. Req a 1.3 flywheel and box now.

Not bad! You will have to adapt the engine and gearbox mounts

when i put a 1.3 in my 410 its was just the engine mounts that needed moving, the gear box mounts were in the right place.twiss wrote:Not bad! You will have to adapt the engine and gearbox mounts

Is it the cutting and re-welding to the chassis that is needed? Or is it just a mod to the mount.
As all the research I've done, has shown that you only need to move the mounts on the early 410s.
I have no issues either way, as I have all the fabricating stuff at work.
In regards to the box and F/W. Any ideas where I can get them?
Have a full 410 tin-top that I'm breaking if anyone needs any bits to swap. T-Box is already gone, but still have both axles etc.

Re: SJ410 -1985 'Cabrio', engine rebuild
the 410 mounts (on mine at least) sat lower down on the chassis than the 1.3 ones did so cut the old mounts off and welded some 1.3 ones in.
