hi anyone help I have a 2005 1600cc grand vitara
problem<>wipers work as they should but when ignition is OFF they still operate also if wipers are working and I switch lights to main beam then wipers stop (don't even centralise) just stop in their tracks and if I switch back to dipped they start again.

Well I've been trying to get my head around this, but can't.
Very often when you have earth problems strange things can happen.
I see both circuits share the same earth junction block and earth point.
I can only suggest checking these are OK.
I can't figure out why it makes any odds being on high or low beam
A few diagrams may help............

Re: grand vitara 2005 1600 petrol (wiper problem)
it was weird I have had car about 2yrs (never realy noticed fault) one day it would not start and I found 2 fuses blown in fuse box not sure which two now but wasn't long after that I noticed if I didn't switch wipers to OFF then they still operated when I turned ign. off (even if key is removed) then the other day I had wipers on and when I went to main beam they stopped.(switch back to dipped and they started again)
may be 2 faults but meby been there all the time and ive not noticed.
I will check earths and see if that's the problem but sounds like some sort of short and wipers are using main beam feed (which is a direct feed) rather than an ign. feed
if nessesary I will rewire wipers from ign. and see if that cures it
THANKS FOR REPLY AND ANYMORE INPUT WILL BE MORE THAN WELCOME

Re: grand vitara 2005 1600 petrol (wiper problem)
checked today earths all sound BUT the +ve feed to wiper switch was live all the time (don't know why) so I disconnected it and fed an Ign. live feed to it.(with a 10 amp inline fuse)
it seems to have fixed both problems so now wipers switch off when ign. turned off and I can use main beam without affecting wipers.
don't know what caused original problem (presume it was some sort of short cct. somewhere)
THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT WAS MUCH APPRIACIATED
cheers fred
