Hello - Samurai bodywork and respray sought!

Hi, I'm new to this site, I've had a Suzuki Sammy LWB for a few years.

It has a good Vitara 1600 engine [45,000 or so on the clock ] with plenty of life in it and it runs very well, but the bodywork is ailing a bit - gone downhill a little from these pics taken a couple of years ago, but still basically sound. I love it and I'm keen to keep it on the road and am looking for someone to do a bit of serious bodywork and a complete re-spray.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it. I'm in Shropshire, UK.

welcome to the nut house on here i think most people so all the body work themselves

looks like a pretty tidy lwb . . . if you put some pics of its current condition someone could point you in the right way

Hi, muddymesser - thanks for your answer. I guessed most would be DIYers on this forum - but maybe posting this will point to someone in the midlands area who'd be prepared to take this on.

Rust mainly fronts of wheel arches, sills, all the usual places. And a lot of unseen too, all of which I'm keen to get sorted.

Hi and welcome.

I would guess that under the plastic sill trims there will be plenty more.

Almost everyone on here have repaired at least some of the areas you are looking at.

Have you considered getting a cheap welder and having a go yourself? I learnt to weld by sorting my bodywork out.

Not many have sprayed on here. Most just brush or roller on a decent self leveling paint.

Hi, thanks for your responses. Yes, there is certainly a lot more unseen - I considered trying to do it myself, but I'm really looking for someone to take it all apart, do the necessary, and put it all back together again!

I will keep looking, and try to stop the rot getting any worse in the meantime.

I second the idea to get yourself a welder and teach yourself!

I've spent a fortune on getting welding done in that past, but once you can take it on yourself £300 worth of welding turns into £20 of metal, £5 of gas and £2 of wire

Hi, I also have a LWB but in a much more shocking condition. I'm using a local back street garage who do a lot of work with old vw campers so are used to buckets of rust. I'm sure you'll have someone similar near to you. Getting my to good running order at the moment then off to body shop so I can't advise on costs yet, but can keep in touch.
