I heard the other day that sj/sammy chassis are the same as jimmy chassis (obviously the suspension is different ) . Is this true and is it a easy swap to do ? cheers

It obviously wouldnt be a straight swap, but crazier things have been done. The body mounts wont be in the same places so it would involve some fabrication work. There about the same size so it couldnt be that hard.

The Jimny chassis has a much longer wheel base, its closer to a LWB SJ. I think that the Jimny is actually a much bigger car all round.
2006 Jimny JLX+ 1.3 VVT
2000 Vitara 4u2 - Calmini 3+3, 33" MTs, 5:83 R&Ps, winch bumper, remapped ECU.
1986 Suzuki SJ413K - G16 conversion
1984 Suzuki SJ410 - Blitz

Jimny = 2250
SJ SWB = 2030
SJ LWB = 3280
Vitara =2200
Not as long as I recalled but much closer to a Vitara than an SJ

Re: Can an samurai body fit a jimmy chassis
I sold a jimmy shell to a lad in Sheffield who was going to try and do this.
He said he'd seen it done in Europe somewhere, but I think that must have been extended wheel base, a Jimny is huge compared to an Sj, my h heavier too.
