slow to warm up,using a lot more fuel, any fixes

can anyone help my sj seems to take for ever to warm up and i think the choke is controlled by temp is there any way of testing thermostat or is it best just to fit new one?has far as a know everything is standard on my sj.

p.s seems to use a lot more fuel i guess because choke is on for longer

Thermostats are so cheap I would just replace it but it is possible to test by hanging it on a bit of wire in a kettle of water and then boil the water. The thermostat should open just before the water begins to boil.
