power steering

Post by timwilks13 » Fri Nov 22, 2013 5:55 pm

Got looking at my power steering pump now the engine is out and it doesn't bolt up to the 1.3 block, it's a 1992 vitara pump, doesn't look brilliantly simple to bodge either, does anyone know if the Jimny one bolts straight up? If so I'll look for one of them!

No ones tried to use vitara power steering on the 1.3?

A thread mount on the block and re drilling the bracket

Drop Steve green a pm as I think he's done it. Im going to be
Doing It soon ish.

Its the bottom pulley that can be an issue

I bought mine from America

This is the mod I did to mine when fitting it to the 1.3 engine.

Just a little tab welded on, and re-drill a couple of holes. I seem to remember it wasn't running parallel to the crank front to back, so I had to slightly adjust a mounting pad on the engine block to true it up.

It's a bit of a PITA, but just fiddly to get right.

Oh yeah, you need to fabricate a wedge too to fit a Vitara steering box (but not for a Jimny one). I'm sure I have details, but cant just find it at the moment. I will find it and put it up later if no one else does, as it's a common file on forums.
