Remember this thing?
I've just gone and bought one of these:
HIF44.
I've also bought a "red" spring, I just need to find a "BDK" or "BDL" (depending on who you talk to) needle. Anyone know where I can get SU needles?
Gonna try to have that fitted before Sunday, so we can just get on with things. Having the right carb and the right spring/needle should make tuning the vehicle much, much easier. I hope!
*EDIT* Found a website that has the needles:
http://sucarb.co.uk/bdk-100in-jet-needle-spring.html
http://sucarb.co.uk/bdl-100in-jet-needle-spring.html

Fairly sure they still do all parts for the SU carbs.

Yes, I've found the 2 needles that I've seen recommended on their website - I'm trying to find out what needle is in the SU I've bought, and if it's not the right needle I'll get a BDL or BDK.
Hopefully that and the colortune will sort my emissions issues.
I'm thinking that since the carb I have seems to be rare, I'll probably recondition it (it actually was nice and shiny and new looking when I fitted it) and ebay it off - assuming I can work out what the heck it is!!!
If it's rare, I might be able to get the money I paid for the 44 back.

Need to figure out what it is and what it was commonly fitted to.

I've sent a pic of it to Burlen, asking if they know what it is. We'll see if they get back to me.

It looks like an Hitachi carb to me.

That does look very, *very* similar to me! Thanks, Rhinoman! I'll look at that properly later, and see if I can identify my carb.
Maybe time to ask on a nissan/datsun forum...?
