Scottie's longwheelbase Sammy
Re: Scottie's longwheelbase Sammy
I've got a few 1.6 engines lying around and an adapter plate so if the 1.3 struggles I can always throw one in The 1.3 is a good'un though!
that's barely longer than stock. No rear lift springs but I do have some mint rear springs to use on the rear

Re: Scottie's longwheelbase Sammy
My bad, re-read it. For some reason i was thinking "3 inches, is he mad?" 30mm is just over 1".
Get it done. Can't wait to see this progress a bit more.

Re: Scottie's longwheelbase Sammy
yeah it'll lift the back end a whole 15mm I'm gonna have a play with springs. I want the longer rears in the front but I'm gonna have a play with leaf packs to try and run ruf with minimal lift so that I won't need much in the back to keep it level, just want some slight longer shackles to help her flex a bit
Re: Scottie's longwheelbase Sammy
Had a few hours this morning so decided to start on the inner arches.
Used the carefully cut out section of arch as a template.
Tacked up one side, couldn't be bothered to remove all the surface rust just yet

Re: Scottie's longwheelbase Sammy
Been chipping away slowly
Tyre clearance at ride height.
Also really like having my bulkhead in behind the seats on my swb as it's a good place for speakers, an extra storage space and stops stuff from the back sliding under your seats, however I realised it would be super easy to make it bolt in, I was going to add some extra mounts along the floor but I can rock the whole vehicle with just the 4 bolts
will do a similar thing to this again but with bigger speakers
I've also found some possible springs to use on the rear, they are off a little Jap van that's not a rascal just need to actually get a pair, I've measured them up and they are 2" shorter than YJs so should work well

Nah they have a different grille and headlight surrounds...
The carry was hand crafted in Japan and the Rascal was bashed together with a hammer by Midlanders!
(Northerners according to Dan!!!)
