I think its one of those things that you just have to figure out when it happens.
You could carry basic spares but id bet the bit that breaks is the bit
You won't have spares for.

yes I am in Luton.....I go local lanes in Lilly and Whitwell there is not a lot but I am new to this so don't know too many people around plus I like to go ...cant wait.... and so far so good...there is lots of water at the moment

I guess I will meet up with others but in the mean time I will risk it

I quite often go out alone with no recovery gear, lockers or winches

I just take a toolkit, recovery strop, string, gaffa tape and cable ties
