LJ80 or not!?

Post by Blevvv » Sat Oct 26, 2013 3:50 pm

hi guys, just a quick one (he says)
about a year ago i had the offer to get my hands on a old LJ for what mite as well have been scrap value, BUT... the body was shot so back in 1992 i think it was and the owner ground the body off and made his own shell from scratch now looks like the old Willys Jeeps and he drove this lj then until 1998 where he parked it up and left it there in a garage,
it has no roof no doors such a cool little machine, still with the original motor and it runs as well! :rockin:
so i was wondering if anyone has any clue of its worth?
if it would have been a good buy,
and its still there and his offer still stands!
and how much of a job would it be to get a old thing thats mite as well be kit car body on it thru a MOT?
there's no rust at all on it whats always a bonus!!!

As it has a separate chassis MOT should be easy enough.

Lights
Wings
Seat belts (possibly not required due to age?)

The body on mine is a cut and shut and MOTs fine.

Although its not original it is rust free. No tax or test I'd put it around 500 to 750 from your description. Any photos?

I think the value will depend on how well the job was done and how much work it needs now. If its tidy then I reckon there would be no shortage of takers.
I've seen a couple of SJs (maybe LJs) with genuine Wilys bodies and they really did look the part. I'm sure they'd upset the purists but who cares
