Throttle Sensor set up
Throttle Sensor set up
Hello All
Does anyone know how to set up the TPS on a 1997 16v vitara,
The engine started to run lumpy and the TPS fault light came up so I bought a new one but then I've been told you need to set this up? me and electrics aren't friends so I have no idea what to do!
Thanks

Re: Throttle Sensor set up
Checked my vitara manual and my grand vitara manual and it says nothing about setting it up .
Some of the pictures (depending on make of TPS) do show the fixing holes slightly slotted, so I guess you can rotate it a little ??

Thank you very much for finding that, least it does show that you must set it up..................but its going over my head a bit
I did take the TPS totally off so it will need a full set up but I cant see where it says what to do if you have taken it off, only how to set it up if its still attached.

Re: Throttle Sensor set up
Soooooo had a bash and managed to get it so the light goes off once you rev it, any ideas why this would happen?
As I need a feeler gauge thingy to set this up righ I decided to carry on with another job I have to do for the mot, fit the cat back on. Once I fitted the cat and tried the engine to see if there were any leaks I my weld, the engine now starts to cut out when you rev it.
I will try and set it back up tomorrow again

Re: Throttle Sensor set up
What are you using to set it up? have you got a throttle opener on that? if you have it needs to be fully retracted.

Hi mate, I've tried to follow the link and use a feeler gauge but its all over my head.
Right I give up,I've got no idea what I'm doing, it seemed to be running fine last night until I put the cat back on. Now it just dies when you touch the accelerator.
Does anyone know what they are doing with these sort of problems, I will pay you as I'm about to pick up the yellow page to find a auto electrician.
