Post by b3n16 » Mon Oct 07, 2013 6:46 pm

I have been looking for my old manual but seem to have lost it in my recent move :er: Anyways I was thinking about dropping all the oils out of the vitara and replacing, however I don't know what with. I have a j reg suzuki 1.6 and this is all I know. Can I please have help identifying what model this is and also what oils to use and rough capacity?. Oh also it has about 110'000

Engine oil wise i just use 10w40. No need for castrol, but avoid the cheapest of the cheap.

Thank you very much. Any idea on capacity's please?. Also I knew about the gearbox oil because I read about it on that page already but could you explain the reason for the urgency of this type of oil. Thanks again and sorry for keep asking questions

No idea. I think its all about the type / grade of metal used in the gears and bearings.

Thats the only info i really know of.

Which capacity are you after, the link showed transmission and transfer..
GL5 oil has additives that can be corrosive on yellow metals (syncro rings),
GL4 doesn't
