Normally I'd agree with you but I was following John and Jordi, plus I was trying to save time and fuel. I'm a bit gutted I didn't get to go downhill through Twiss's corkscrew, only up it, which was a bit...uhm...lackluster in a 410. Tim was almost pushing me.ScottieJ wrote:Left lane???? Motorways???? I avoid motorways if I can in normal cars because they bore the crap out of me! Would rather take A and B roads whatever I'm driving so It's a very rare occasion I'll go near one in the SJ!

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

That blue 410 I had did 65-70 nicely and that was 4 speed wasn't too loud Esther that was 30 miles and didn't do to bad on the petrol me and my dad were very surprised by this along the motorway and a few strange looks from some people. But they are all so diffrent my black old 410 would cruis at 50 with off road tyres and spacers but 60 and it got loud and that that was a 2 hour drive. My white one does 30 but that's because it has no down pipe right now :(

Longest journey I've done in mine is 50 miles in one journey, zuk ran sweet, 45mph no motorways just a and B roads and was nice and smooth, I'm running 1.0 with 4 speed box at the moment so all stardard, got a 5 speed box in the shed waiting to go in and on Friday I should be ordering my new bigger tyres, so that should help me be as to cruise along at 50 no problem... I've done 70 according to the SJ speedo so probably actually about 65, and that was easy, just didn't have the guts to go any further than that lol
It's amazing what a tune up and timing can do to yours engine..

Have you got the prop to go from the gearbox to the transfer box? I had the 5 speed all bolted up to the engine when I realised the prop was not only too long but had a different spline end on itJay18 wrote:Longest journey I've done in mine is 50 miles in one journey, zuk ran sweet, 45mph no motorways just a and B roads and was nice and smooth, I'm running 1.0 with 4 speed box at the moment so all stardard, got a 5 speed box in the shed waiting to go in and on Friday I should be ordering my new bigger tyres, so that should help me be as to cruise along at 50 no problem... Re: 70 miles in the sj on a camping trip tomoz!
Ed yours is an (late) type2 410 though, jays is 85/86 (type 3) so "should" have the later 4 speed box that is slightly longer and has the later spline count so it "should" all bolt straight up.
Re: 70 miles in the sj on a camping trip tomoz!
Oooh, mines 87, I've looked at the 4speed in my 410 and looked at the 5 speed in the garden and they look similar but without actually fitting it I don't know, guess well find out when I try to fit it..
Should be doing some work on it this weekend so wells see how far I get..

I didn't know there were different versions of the 4 speed box. Ignore me then.
