70 miles in the sj on a camping trip tomoz!

Post by Sj410red » Tue Sep 17, 2013 7:19 pm

So the sj is loaded up, tools, tent, sleeping bags, stove, kettle, water container, table, chairs and the most important bucket! I have never taken the sj this far before, approx 70 miles, clacton to great yarmouth, most of it single carriageway. I have been checking all the nuts n bolts, fluid levels, kicking the tyres. It's going to be a drag tho at 45 mph tops, anything above that its starts to get loud and scary and jumps about abit, mind you I am laden with me n the mrs too! No doubt she will be bending my ear the whole way for blowing up her discovery so we cant use that and tow the caravan, but i prefer the tent anyways, so it worked out well, I haven't got to tow that for 70 miles its in the back! Wish me luck chaps, I will post updates over next few days if anyone is interested!

Have fun bud. I have trailered my SJ to last couple of events and its not half as much fun as actually driving it there.

When I'm at Uni I do 40 miles in my SJ every day. On top of that I did 300 miles in one weekend, plus off-roading.

Zooks are plenty fine going long distance so long at you're not trying to keep up with Jimmy Average in his BMW 320d. Settle in the left lane at 50 - 55 and enjoy the drive.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Left lane???? Motorways???? I avoid motorways if I can in normal cars because they bore the crap out of me! Would rather take A and B roads whatever I'm driving so It's a very rare occasion I'll go near one in the SJ!

I've planned my route using A and B roads, might take a bit longer at slower speeds but less harsh on my back!
