Havent used one but never heard a bad thing about the Facet pumps.

Re Facet pumps, I used to use the one in Jordis link till it packed up on a busy road! dead as a DoDo luckily I had a spare - after that I never trusted it, so I plumped for this goo.gl/SCcBM5
these are designed to pull fuel from the pump so are an engine bay fit - so far so good!

Why doesn't he just buy a new mechanical pump? They are probably more reliable, most are still going strong 20+ years after being fitted in the factory.

I've never had a mechanical pump fail, only changed mine because it was leaking oil for about a year

I've never really seen the need to swap to an electric pump unless you are using an engine that wasn't fitted with a mechanical pump originally.

Well he just wants a cheap fix I told him there is one on eBay brandnew starting bit is like £15 but I'm not sure if what option he is taking

A standard mechanical pump will be a lot quieter than a Facet.
