ADD-A-LEAF
ADD-A-LEAF
Been to collect a bull bar today - £10 off ebay...good times
The guy has a couple of SJs...one he is breaking and one he is building in to an off-roader. He has some Llama Add-A-Leaf lift springs available.
Had a quick look at old threads here but interested in what you guys think about the product
I run 235/75 15s on Daihatsu 7" alloys that just catch a bit on full lock so a lift would suit my set up
Thanks
Paul

Re: ADD-A-LEAF
If they're rubbing on lock a lift won't make a difference. You want to either limit the steering lock if they're rubbing on the springs or maybe do a little bit of chopping if it's rubbing on the bumper or the arch.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: ADD-A-LEAF
They kill springs, but Twiss still has? i think? add a leaf on the back or he had them on the front and they only snapped about 6 months ago and he said he got about 5 years out of them and they was second hand. i think?

Nice one Jordi...plain talking - keep it simple and say it how it is...thanks
The front tyres rub on the cross member/bumper support. I have got the grinder to it but still rubs a bit. I figured a lift would give clearance??
What do you boys suggest?
Cheers

Chop that crossmember down a bit:88SJ wrote:The front tyres rub on the cross member/bumper support. I have got the grinder to it but still rubs a bit. I figured a lift would give clearance??

And then get or make a bumper that bolts onto the ends of the chassis rails.
I think these would do it.

Re: ADD-A-LEAF
What I was going to do on Karis's old SJ was to move the original bumper mounts further inboard on both the cross member and bumper so it looks standard but has the small amount of extra clearance needed.

Stiff but I never broke any springs... They are cheap for a reason, and certainly not to be dismissed instantly
